What in the world?

During one of our recent exploration trips we went to the Florissant Fossil Beds site. While there we saw these strange objects that were cabled to hold them together and they were under shelters.

Turns out they were petrified redwood tree stumps, centuries old.

The 1878 Hornbek Homestead is also at this location.
