Here’s an excerpt:

A San Francisco cable car holds 60 people. This blog was viewed about 2,100 times in 2014. If it were a cable car, it would take about 35 trips to carry that many people.

Home Again!

After wintering in a few parts of Texas we are finally back home again. Just in time for a short cold spell.   🙂

During our travel across Texas from El Paso to the Houston area we came across the Mason County Court House. One of the largest town squares we have ever seen. The court house occupies only about a third or less of the land in the middle of the square. It is located in Mason, Texas and was built about 1910.

It is great to be back home in Missouri!

A couple fron Bill Evans lake area

Below shows the valley that was damed to make the lake. Unusual in that both ends of the lake are earthen dams. Built to provide water for miners.

Below is a lonesome duck out for an early morning swim.

We hope you enjoyed these images from our recent travels.

Additional images from our trip to Bill Evans Lake

We are now back in El Paso with a weather forecast of 81 for Friday. We had a great time at the lake near Gila, NM.

Below are a few additional images from that area.

This Bass Tracker reminded us of home where many of them are sold at Bass Pro Shops world headquarters.

A few of the cacti were beginning to bloom. As you can see, this one had plenty of protection. Lots of very sharp needles. I did not want to get any closer. 🙂

This is a silhouette image of just a few of the people enjoying their Presidents Day weekend, fishing at the lake. Quite a few fish were caught.

I have a few more images which I will send out later today. It is time for Starbucks and a few other errands. 😎

Bill Evans Lake

Below is our new Roadtrek. We are really liking it. Able to stay off the grid as it has lots of battery power and a propane furnace.

A group of ducks that have Bill Evans lake in NM their home for now. People don’t bother them.

Our Roadtrek and the pickup and trailer of her nephew that guided us here from El Paso. We all spent the night sleeping here at the lake.

From a brief visit

We arrived at Bosque Del Apache NWR two days early and the majority of the birds had not been driven south by the colder weather. We were successful in getting a few images, shared below. We spent one night there, temperatures were down to about 10 F at night. On our very early morning drive around the loops any place close to the Rio Grande river the fog was really thick and had frozen on all the trees and brush. Most of the ponds were frozen over.

Wish we could have stayed longer, maybe next year.

A few of the Sandhill cranes in the fog. They were unidentifiable unless one used binoculars due to the fog.

A song sparrow shaking the frost from its wing.

These snow geese were nearly invisible from the loop road. Only the prescience of the dark morph one allowed me to get a focus and this image.

This is a Gambels quail making its way through the deep snow.

Later in the morning and a bit further from the river the fog cleared allowing us to get this image. One of the loop roads with the snow covered mountains in the background. They had done a good job of getting the snow off the loop roads and the were not dusty.

I hope you enjoyed this visit to the “woods of the Apache”.

Bosque

I was there the beginning of December this year, I think January is better. More chance of some snow and ice I think. Have a great trip!

One of the roads at Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge in New Mexico. Lots of snow left in the area. Many of the ponds remained frozen. Hoping for warmer weather tomorrow.
