Exploring the road to 11 Mile Dam

We took a little drive up through Divide, Colorado today to explore a bit. Ended up on the road to the 11 Mile Dam and Reservoir. Lots of fishermen along the river on the up to the dam, which is as far as the road goes. Enjoyed lots of canyon scenery. Many house sized boulders along the way. Also three one lane tunnels to keep the driving interesting. Very scenic!

This house sized boulder nearly in the middle of the stream would put some hurt on a kayaker that was not prepared for it.

Quite a rapid to try to negotiate I imagine?

We will be

Going Cordless!

In a new Roadtrek recreational vehicle. After six wonderful years in our 2008 190 Popular which we named Geraldine II, it is time to trade. We now have on order a 2016 Roadtrek 210 Popular. It is a newer one similar to this one at American RV, http://americanrv.com/rv-detail/2015-roadtrek-210-popular .

Several of the newer Roadtrek models offer the opportunity to operate “off the grid” or cordless. This means that one is no longer tethered to campgrounds. You can stop wherever it is legal to do so.

The team at Roadtrek under the leadership of Mr. Jim Hammill has developed this new technology which teams solar with advanced lithium batteries and controllers to provide the electrical power one needs for days at a time. Maybe even weeks depending on the model and ones electrical usage pattern.

While we will be sad to part ways with Geraldine II, we hope that her subsequent owners will experience many of the beautiful locations she has seen with us. We traded with American RV in Grand Rapids, MI. Robb and Chad there were great to work with, always replying to our emails with answers. If you want our 4WD Roadtrek I suggest you get in line early. 🙂

Should you wish to view some of the views and locations Geraldine II has made possible for us visit our blog, ozarksphotos.wordpress.com . We hope you enjoy it and it gets your “traveling fever” up.

Travel safe!

Another from Garden of the Gods

I believe this formation is called “White Rock”. Unusual in the park as most of the formations are red.

A little bedraggled

This columbine is a little storm beaten and bedraggled. At that it still looks better than I did after driving the million dollar highway from Silverton to Ouray. After all the curves I was pretty tuckered. 😎

Durango to Silverton Train

We found what we thought would be a good location to get an image of the train nearing Silverton. You be the judge?
