Our route

This will be our last night near Leadville, Colorado. Tomorrow morning we will embark on the route below. We are hoping that we will see and be able to share some beautiful scenery. With any luck perhaps some wildlife. With even more luck we will be able to find a good enough cell signal that we can upload anything we find worthwhile.

We wish everyone a great Fourth of July holiday. Please be safe!

Quick Trip to Leadville

We made a quick trip into Leadville this morning. Parked on the main street before heading to Safeway to get a few groceries.

The picture below is looking off the main street toward Mt. Massive. Quite a view? Youngsters doing some painting on the wall on the right of the image.

View of the majority of Harrison St., the Main Street in Leadville, Colorado below. Lots of shops, bars, cafes, etc.

Short trip to Vail

We made a short but curvy and sometimes steep drive to Vail this afternoon. Hoping to find some prescription cat food for Mittens and some supplies for us. Got a few images along the way, hope you enjoy!

One of several large bluffs along Hiway 24 between Leadville and Interstate 70.

Just a few of the lupine now blooming along with some yellow wildflowers.

Wildflowers growing close to some aspen trees.

This image may be hard to view without enlarging it. The mountain to the far right is Mt. Massive, the peak just right of center is Mt. Ebert.

Hope you enjoy it. We are having a great trip and enjoying the weather.

Tallest Mountains in Colorado

Below is are images of the two tallest mountains in Colorado. Too many ripples in the water to get a good reflection image. Mt. Massive is on the right with Mt. Elbert on the left. These were taken this morning.

The mountain on the left is Mt. Elbert, the tallest mountain in Colorado.

Below is a closer look at Mt. Massive.

Flowers and Mountains

Out today for a little exploring around Turquoise Lake here in Colorado. Their spring flowers have begun blooming at this altitude. Hoping to see even more in the next week.

The first image is an example of one of various varieties of yellow flowers. Nice of the bug to be there to perhaps add a little perspective.

The second image is of part of the Sawatch Range of the Rocky Mountains near Leadville, Colorado. I think this is Mt. Massive, the second tallest mountain in Colorado. The lake in the foreground is Turquoise Lake.

Our current campsite

Below find a photo of our view through our windshield of our campsite in the BBy Doe Campground near Leadville, Colorado. About 10,000 feet elevation. Down near 40° last night. Hi today probably in the 70s.

Below that is an Apple Maps image showing where we are camped in relation to Turquoise Lake. Snow-capped mountains all around, a beautiful area of this marvelous country we live in.
