Wild Flowers

Below are three of the wildflowers we wanted to share with you. These were seen in the last few days. The first one we think is of some wild strawberry blooms. No idea what the others are. We will have another post shortly with three more images, if all goes well with our cellular connection. 🙂

Mountains of Colorado

we are in Baby Doe campground near Leadville, Colorado for the next few nights. Much cooler than Grand Junction.   🙂

Below are a few images we got late today. Edited on my iPad in the comfort of our Roadtrek.

A view of one of the two tallest peaks in Colorado with Turquoise Lake in the foreground.

A view from about ten miles up the  Forest Service road to a view of another Colorado mountain.

A mule deer munching in a high mountain meadow.

Blue dot

We are the blue dot, at the Baby Doe Campground a short way from Leadville, Colorado. Much cooler here than in Grand Junction. Hoping to get some images edited and posted. Or at least ready to post when we find some WiFi. :-).

We have seen a lot of scenic country. As hot as it has been there has been too much haze to get any images at many of them.

Leaving Jackson and many Beautiful Sites

we will be leaving Jackson, WY today. Heading over to Dubois, WY area, hoping to find a spot in a forest service campground by a lake.
We will leave you with a few wild flower images, hope you like them.

The next mage is not a wildflower. Just a very scenic image we thought you would like.

We love our Roadtrek and the ability it gives us to travel to all the beautiful parks, forests and monuments in the U.S.A and Canada. Ride along with us by subscribing to this blog. And look back in it to view all the places we have been.

The Grand Tetons

Schwabacher Landing is one of several of the favorite locations for tourists and especially photographers. It offers many opportunities for landscape and avian images.

Two images of a duck enjoying a leisurely swim.

Just one of the many reflections of the Tetons available.

Below is another image of the Grand Tetons showing some of the terrain.

Views Along Gros Ventre Road

We decided this morning to do a little exploring. As we spent the night at Gros Ventre campground near Jackson, Wyoming we felt it apropos to drive east on the Gros Ventre Road up into the Gros Ventre mountains. It is good paved road for a ways. Then it turns to gravel and some of it is not very smooth. Passable for most any vehicle in dry weather, not so much so if it has been raining.
It was a pleasurable way to spend a couple of hours this morning. Below are a few of the images we got going up and coming back down. We got up to a bit over 8,000 feet.

Below are the images from our drive up a good portion of Gros Ventre Road.

First is a rocky hill we thought was interesting.

This view shows part if a verdant valley, the gravel road and some hills I found interesting. There is another of a different hill below it.

The next three are of wild flowers we saw on the trip.

The next five are of differing views as we returned down the road of the terrain and views of the Grand Tetons.

Below we show you where we had lunch near the end of our travel up the Gros Ventre Road. As it was a Saturday there was some traffic on the road.

Feel free to post a comment if you wish.

A Little Critter

This pika thought he was hidden from view and perhaps hoping for something to scavenge after we left the pullout where we had lunch. We were on the Beartooth highway on our way to Yellowstone and Jackson, WY.

The Beartooth is a beautiful drive, ascending to over 10,000 feet in elevation. Lots of switchbacks and shear drops along the way. One needs to stay attentive.

Below is an image of the spire from which the highway got its name. This was taken with the equivalent of a 2700 mm lens.

Another image from

Here ia another image from our travels. This is Geraldine II sitting below Devils Tower in Wyoming, one huge rock. Just after this was taken a downpour began during which there was a little sleet. Afterwards during out drive to Gillette there was dime to quarter size hail along with the downpour. It seems all the rivers in NE and WY are close to overflowing and their is lots of water standing in the farm fields.Today we are resting a bit in Gillette, WY. We may go on to the west a bit further this afternoon.

Hoping everyone is doing great,
Larry

More Montana

Hi all,

We are still in Montana enjoy ourselves! We have been attending a Roadtrek gathering in a campground in the mountains. Fortunately it is only a few miles into town, Red Lodge, Montana to access cellular.

Yesterday was a pretty easy day. Late in the afternoon Joe Morales lead a group of Roadtrek up to the rest area at 9,100 feet and to show how to photograph the Roadtrek. While we were up there someone noticed a bear sow and two cubs down below the rest area and we had a chance to get an image of them. Below is one of the photographs of the way Joe stages a big group of Roadtrek to photograph.

We will be leaving this area tomorrow and heading towards Yellowstone in Jackson hole.

Pride

When we saw the sign at a roadside pull out we could not resist posting it to our blog. Shows pride in a little bit of humor, hope you enjoy.
