Montana, Missouri

Today we stopped at a Montana state park, Headwaters of the Missouri River. Very nice park.

One of the many informational boards in the park.

View of the start of the Missouri River. The longest river in the U.S.A.

View of the river and our Roadtrek in one of the several parking areas in the park.

Great blue heron & sushi for lunch

While in the Jackson Hole area of Wyoming we found this great blue heron wading a pond. It was evident it was looking for lunch. We waited a while and managed to get these images of the heron having sushi.

Heron striking for lunch, not always successfully.

On this attempt, success!
The heron might be thinking about throwing it back as it is pretty small.

Appears it decides it is a keeper.

Flipping it to get it aligned for swallowing.

Down the hatch, sushi for lunch!

Yellowstone NP

We overnighted in Yellowstone national park. No services camping at table Creek Campground. Mittens was Wild in Wyoming. In the middle of the night he was jumping from window to window, using me as his bridge. May need a nap today. LLL

Wyoming has found a substitute for flagmen!

Black grizzly bear, young perhaps.

Pika waiting for anyone to drop a crumb?

Jackson, WY and the Grand Tetons

One severe thunderstorm rolled through the valley of Jackson Hole this afternoon. Even some sleet. These images were taken with the new Nikon V3 camera, once it quit raining so hard we could see a ways. 🙂

View of Curtis Canyon.

The Grand Tetons, obscured by the thunderstorm.

A small mountain lake, early before the wind started blowing. 🙂

Yesterday, Rocky Mountain National Park

Very nice day at the RMNP yesterday.

Moose cow, “If you have an itch, chew it”.

Small group of white pelicans.

Very young elk calf lazing in the meadow.

I think a red-tailed hawk on its nest with two chicks. Hard to catch them both up at the same time.

Nice day in the Rockies

Had a nice cool day on the western slope of the Rockies. Below are a few images we got today. Fortunate to find a few osprey doing something other than just setting on their nest.

Larry

Flying in with sushi for lunch. 🙂

A few of the Rocky Mountain wildflowers.

Waiting at the nest for the sushi! LOL
