Eastern Kingbird

During our one day excursion to southeast Missouri we visited Mingo National Wildlife Refuge and Duck Creek wildlife area near Puxico, MO. Hardly any birds in the area. This one eastern kingbird did pose for us for a short while on one of the ponds at Duck Creek.

One from a previous trip

I was going back through some images from earlier trips and thought this green jay perched on a very prickly bush might be good to share. Taken in south Texas where many of the trees and bushes grow many thorns.

Mute swan

A mute swan, probably a male with its five cygnets. On a lake in Springfield, MO. The black part of the male’s bill/nose swells during mating season.

A pair of roseate spoonbills, it appears one is holding the other down, perhaps to keep it from sparring with the great egret? This along with other recent images are on our Web site, www.OzarksPhotos.com , pay us a visit and play the slideshows which are available (sans music) in each folder of images.
