A wonderful place to spend some time while one is in Cody, Wyoming. This 7 acres under one roof of museums is affiliated with the Smithsonian and has a lot of wonderful displays and information.
The five museums are Buffalo Bill Museum, Cody firearms museum, Draper natural history Museum, Plains Indian museum and the Whitney western art museum. Fortunately a ticket allows entry for two days. The number and quality of exhibits is overwhelming! Several examples of the many bronze’s are below and there are several outside:
We first visited the Cody firearms museum which unfortunately has part of it closed off for construction. Even so there is a multitude of firearms on display. Below are images of a small portion of them:
How some of the firearm collection came to Cody and the firearms museum.
We also visited the Whitney Western Art Museum.
Hopefully we can return tomorrow to see more of the museums and outdoor attractions.
The Cody Museums are fabulous! Pleased that you have the opportunity to visit. Is the chuck wagon guy cooking and serving beans and coffee out front? Nice images. Dottir
Yes, and the sourdough biscuits.
Interesting. There appears to be plenty to see. Much much larger than the place at Colorado Springs. He is buried there or at least was buried there. Somehow I think the body may have been moved?
