Sunset on Whidbey Island

Last night the sunset here on Whidbey Island was beautiful. We certainly have enjoyed our stay with our gracious hos

ts, Jim and Sandy. We will be departing soon to head over via ferry to the Olympic Peninsula.

Below are two images which we hope will convey the beauty of a Whidbey Island sunset.

Fort Casey on Whidbey Island

Well worth a visit! Built during World War II to prevent the Japanese from invading. It is also adjacent to the now decommissioned Admiralty Lighthouse. There is also another fort on the other side of the channel.

Below is a photograph of our Roadtrek which we travel in and enjoy it very much with the lighthouse in the background.

Present-day use of this channel seems to be primarily cruise ships heading to a returning from Alaska.

The well-kept mowed area of this facility is enjoyed by the native deer.

Fourth of July in Seattle Washington

We departed our relatives home in Renton, Washington early on the fourth. We knew that parking was going to be hard to obtain for those arriving late.our destination was a small park on top of hill overlooking
Elliott Bay, downtown and on over to Lake
Union where they had a barge with the fireworks. In previous years it was further south so that the fireworks appeared behind the space needle. For some reason they have moved it further north which makes for slightly less dramatic images and video. The barge is about 4 miles from our location.

Seattle’s Pike Street Public Market

During our stay in Renton we were invited by a relative’s daughter to accompany us to the Pike Street market. I was interested in going because that’s the home of the original Starbucks store. I hope to get a one of my Starbucks drinks there. I waited in the Roadtrek while the ladies went to do a little shopping. Then Susan and I walked down to the Starbucks. Below are some photos and videos of our visit and some of the exotic produce they were able to buy.
Below is a brief video of the pandemonium at the public market in Seattle. The traffic and crowds were unbelievable even on an early Saturday morning.

Below is a short video I took while waiting in our Roadtrek for Marilyn and Susan to return from their shopping foray. Susan, a cousin was a very gracious and capable hostess.

Below is a photograph of the original Starbucks store. As you can tell it is a very popular location for tourists and visitors to the market.

Here is a brief video of my reaction to the line waiting to enter the Starbucks original store.

Below are the fruits of Marilyn and Susan’s shopping at the Pike Street market. On the left is an ordinary red pepper, then three baby bok choy, a head of Romanesco (Italian) cauliflower. Below that are garlic scapes and a the bottom is the peeled shrimp. This and a steak will be our late lunch today.

Tillamook, Oregon

Attachment available until Jul 27, 2016

The Tillamook Cheese Company in Tillamook, Oregon. Home of really good cheese and fantastic ice cream which I failed to mention in the video. A brief stop there this afternoon and of course we had to have some ice cream. Marilyn chose strawberry and I had chocolate. Excellent!

More of the Oregon pacific ocean coast

The weather here along the Oregon coast is absolutely delightful. The warmest we have seen was about 72°. It gets down into the 50s or 60s at night. We are truly enjoying our trip.
Pictured below is our Geraldine three. Our mode of transportation for this trip and hopefully many more. In the background is the Umpqua River lighthouse. One of the first if not the first along the Oregon coast.

As you can see from the sign below, this lighthouse been here a long, long time.

Below are two images of the Oregon Sand Dunes. They run for several miles along the coast here in Central Oregon.

That is 30 for this morning. We hope you are enjoying our blog. Feel free to comment.

Rainbow Point

Just north of Brookings, Oregon at one of the early pullouts is one called Rainbow Point. I hope this video captures the scene interestingly. There are many sea stacks and one can see a lot of beach and ocean.

We are certainly enjoying the weather here in Oregon. Today’s high is about 70°. We are now in Coos Bay where we will probably spend the night.

Hope everyone is doing great and enjoying their life as much as we enjoy ours. Our Roadtrek’s have given us the pleasure of being able to travel and enjoy seeing the many vistas in the United States. No motels, restaurants or any other places we do not wish to visit.

Another Day of Great Oregon Weather

While it may of gotten to 70° today here in Oregon on the coast it got down to about 55 last night. It is now about 65° at 7:30 PM. A bright sunny day but a bit windy. We are probably about 75 feet from the coast and about 75 feet above the coast. And we are getting Seaspray on the side windows. 😎

Before we leave tomorrow to head a little further north on the coast we wanted to share a few of the images from today.

We were blessed with this image while were driving along a hilltop road to a lookout along Highway 101.  We felt the Gods rays shining down on through the forest from the sun indicate we will have a blessed trip!
